Caught in or between hazards.


When an injury occurs as a result of the crushing forces between two objects, it


is known as a caught in or between occurrence.


When an injury is caused only by the impact, it is referred to as a struck by 


incident.


As OSHA caught in or between hazards are defined as:


Injuries resulting from a person being squeezed, caught crushed, pinched, or 


compressed between two or more objects or between parts of an object.


What does CF01 mean?


Census of fetal occupational injuries. The purpose of CF01 is to collect information 


on all fatal work-related injuries.


Being caught in or crushed by a collapsing structure is still a top cause of death. 


Scaffold, demolition dangers, and floor / wall destruction are all common reasons 


of structures collapse.


- A competent person must designate for: 


Inspections of the excavation, the surrounding area, and the protective system.


Prior to the demolition of a structure, an engineering survey is conducted.


Inspections will continue throughout the demolition process.


- Caught in or between accidents are preventable 


through:


  • Planning
  • Hazard identification.
  • Hazard mitigation.


- Employer responsibilities.

1- Provide guard on power tools and other equipment with moving parts.

2- Support, secure and otherwise safeguard equipment with parts that workers 

could be caught between.

3- Take precautions to protect workers from being crushed by falling heavy 

equipment.

4- Take precautions to avoid a worker becoming trapped between equipment and a 

solid object.

5- Provide protection for worker during trenching and excavation work.

6- Provide mean to avoid collapse of scaffolds.

7- Provide mean to avoid worker being crushed by collapsing wall during 

demolition.

8- Provide effective safety training for workers.

9- Ensure belts, gears, shafts, pulley, power saw is guard.


- Employee responsibilities.


1- Follow all safety procedure at all time.

2- Report unsafe conditions and behaviors.

3- Identify safety issues proactively.

4- Take responsibilities for your safety and the safety of your co-worker.
