Kerbstone installation method statement
Purpose.
To Enhance the knowledge and technical skills
for the staff, workmen involved in the activities associated with the Kerbstone
works incorporating the specific project requirements.
Scope.
The method statement will provide information
regarding the pre-work requisites, sequence of works, the right workmanship and
things need to consider prior during Kerbstone Works.
Storage of Materials.
- Proper handling during delivery and transpiring to the site is required to avoid damages such as chipped or broken edges, scratch, cracks etc.
- Materials to be stored in dry area to protect from color variation due to moisture content if being wet by water.
- Accessories such as grout, cementitious material for mortar, mechanical bolts and anchor bolts need to be keep in dry area.
- Ensure the proper handling and safe keeping of the material in site.
Surface Preparation and Setting out.
- Prior to start any installation, surface preparation & setting out is required. For surface preparation are must be clean, sound and roughness accordingly if installation required mortar bed.
- Surveyor to provide the surveyor marking for the correct layout based on approved shop drawing and to be checked by Site Engineer.
- QA/QC Engineer to verify the surface preparation & layout before offering to consultant inspection.
- Holes for dowel bar & bolts must be done accordingly with proper cleaning and hole depth are being checked based on the approved drawing.
Kerbstone installation.
- Ensure to use the approved Curbstone material.
- Kerb to be installed using 10 mm mortar bed in the area that has been done with proper surface preparation, roughened accordingly and layout has been checked based on the approved drawing.
- Cement mortar bedding mix must be 1:3 (Portland cement: sand).
- Details for curve area must be done accordingly to the approved detail drawing.
- Ensure to have 2 to 3 mm gap between two Curbstone.
- Final touch up and repair must be done prior to proceed with completion inspection.
- If concrete fill is required at the back area of the Kerbstone, ensure to provide filler board and sealant in the top portion of the gap between Kerbstone and concrete fill.
Responsibility.
PRIMARY: Construction Manager, Project Engineers.
- Screen specialized category workmen by selecting appropriate workmen/staff.
- Plan / Identify training needs of supervisors and highly skilled workmen based on their qualifications experience and activities planned.
SECONDARY: QA/QC Engineer.
- Conduct on job training as per training plan for ongoing activity.
- Toolbox meeting on work procedures to workmen will be given during the activity to enhance knowledge, competence in respective trades & the desired quality of the activity to ASGC standards.
- Revisit the Training plan and make necessary changes as Plan vs. actual conducted.
