Quality management system course- Operational planning and control

The first requirement for clause 8 from ISO 9001:2015 is plan implement and control the processes needed to deliver products and services, and to implement actions to address risks and opportunities.

The process control includes establish criteria/ acceptance, resources needs, process control, documented information with change control.

These important because improper planning and control of the processes the company can not ensure its processes delivers intended results.

- How to do plan and control processes.

- Determine the product and services requirements.

For example, what we want to produce or how our service should look like. This at same time the acceptance criteria will tell the company whether produced or delivered the services as it is intended.
This usually done in the document called product or service specification.

- Determine the criteria for the process that will deliver the product or service.

This meaning the organization need to describe the way of how its processes are carried out and, in some cases, what values some parameters must have during the processes.

For example, the small bakery want to produce some bread. The bakery must identify all processes necessary to produce the bread. First process is purchasing of ingredients or raw materials and this a job of bakery owner. Then warehousing process where worker stores other ingredients. Next production process, the baker is responsible to deliver the bread as requested.

- Determine resources that needed to ensure the products or services will deliver as intend.

Resources includes human resources, facilities, equipment, and raw materials.

In our example, depending on how many breads the bakery is planning to produce it must define how many bakers it needs, how many ovens and what type, how much floor and other ingredients, etc.

- The organization implement controls of the processes according to the criteria.

In our example, what temperature should be monitoring.

- The organization determine what procedures and records will be kept and to what extent.

Propose to keep documents is to ensure that the processes will be carried out as planned and to demonstrate conformity of the products to their requirements.

In our example, the procedure how the bread is made, and this can consider as work instruction. Also, some ingredients require particle temperature condition during storage then should be some records about temperature to demonstrate the store properly before the production.

Planning of processes and their controls must result with outputs that are suitable to organization’s operations.
