The project manager is responsible for determining the
project approach to manage and lead the project successfully. However, in order
to get more information about the high-level scope of the project, the
objectives and business value that the project will bring the organization, the
project manager will need to look at the business case documents.
Business case.
The business case is a business document that is usually
created in the initial stages of the project. The sponsor is accountable for
preparing and managing business case documents.
It is high level documents that gives information about the
economic feasibility of the project and the benefits that the company, the
customer, and the end users receive from the project.
The business case documents provides justification for
undertaking the project, program, or portfolio. It evaluates the benefits,
cost, and risk of alternative options and provide authorization for choosing
the project or program.
The business case also gave a recommendation on how to
proceed and gave an evaluation of the project. The business case is a major
input in creating initial project documents such as the project charter and the
project overview statement.
The business case gave a basis for authorization of further
project activities.
Project Vision.
A clear project vision is key to any project success. The
project manager also need to understand how the project vision aligns with the
organization’s strategic goals.
A clear project vision can even solve the problems before it
is raised. The project vision is overall a grand idea of where the team or the
project is going. It is the project manager who need to have a clear vision of
a desired project objectives and share this vision with the team member and
stakeholders.
The vision will help the team member to make the right
decisions, it has motivated them to
complete task as necessary and inspire a
new action to achieve the desired results.
The project vision is usually described in the project
vision statement which is a written document which aim to guide, motivate, and
inspire the people working in the project.
