Method Statement Template for Wooden Flooring Installation.
PURPOSE/SCOPE .
The purpose of this method statement is for Wooden Flooring
Works plus the materials and labor
required to undertake the wooden flooring works in a safe and controlled
manner, compiling with relevant
legislation, Standards and Codes of practice etc.
The method statement shall be briefed to all appropriate
operatives to ensure that they are aware
of the sequence of activities and any Client/Consultant project specific
requirements.

STORAGE.
Store the cartons on a flat surface and support the entire
length of the cartons.
Keep the cartons dry.
Store the cartons away from areas where falling objects or
other construction activity may cause damage.
Do not store the cartons in stacks more than six boxes high,
and make sure the stacks are stable.
Do not store the cartons in any location where temperatures
may exceed 25-27° C (e.g., on blacktop pavement during unusually hot weather or
under dark tarps or plastic wraps without air circulation).
PROCEDURE/SEQUENCE OF WORK.
PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
All Timber Flooring /finishes material will be closely
monitored and supervised by subcontractor.
Subcontractor will verify if the material complies the project
specification based on the approved
material Sample. Once the items prepared, these will be protectively packed in
a cartoon with proper label identifications, numbers, and locations. All
finished products will be distributed in
the assigned areas carefully hoisted to prevent damages.
PRE-CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES.
Approved materials shall be used in accordance with the
project drawings and specifications. To
confirm Timber Flooring /finishes items are manufactured as per approved
details. The items will be taken to a location at site and inspected prior to
installation for any damage. Check dimension of the opening size, the width and
height and overall dimension of the items Climate /Environmental Control to be operational.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES/SEQUENCE OF WORKS.
PRE-INSTALLATION:
Approved material
shall be used in accordance with the project drawings and specification.
These items will be taken to the location on site and
inspected prior to installation for any damage.
Climate Control to be operational.
INSTALLATION.
- Remove any dirt and dust on the screed.
- Size/Dimensions are taken for all areas and to check the floor levelling in the
- entire room for proper fitting of the timber to the surface
- Check all joints interface for proper fitting of timber installation
- Apply adhesive according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Allow the adhesive to fully cure before proceeding to install timber flooring.
- Remove any dirt and dust on the screed.
- Apply adhesive according to manufacturer’s instruction.
- Lay timber flooring, where possible, use a floor nailing machine after the
- second on third run is in place. Lay directly over screed using adhesive or
- laying over plywood with carpenter’s plan and groove.
- Leave expansion gap of 6-8mm at the perimeters of the room.
- Remove perimeter wedges and check for loose timber strips.
Installing Timber Skirting.
The installation of skirting involves using adhesive and
concrete nails to secure the skirting in
place. The nails could be temporarily or permanently secured to the skirting.
For temporary securing, the nails should
only be partially hammered into facilitate easy removal at a later stage. For
permanently securing, headless concrete
nails should be used. Thereafter, nail holes should be concealed with matching wood filler and sanded smooth before
finishing.
Protection
After finishing the cleaning process, cover the Timber
Flooring /finishes by carton sheets and cover the elements by polythene sheet
to prevent the collection of any dirty materials. The edges of the completed
elements to be carefully protected.
Where possible, restrict the access into areas where Timber
Flooring /finishes works have been completed.
Inspections
The inspection requests shall be in accordance with the
ITP.
