METHOD STATEMENT FOR COMBO ROOF WATERPROOFING WORKS
- Purpose and Scope.
- Tools & Equipment
- Materials.
Ordered materials is delivered to the site and received by the site foreman.
The site foreman will check the materials as per the delivery note and will verify against approved material submittal. Ensure that that the incoming inspection has been performed against the checklist and records are maintained.
Keep the technical data sheet and MSDS at the point of use.
Make sure that the waterproofing materials are free from damages and defects.
Supply/Transportation.
The waterproofing materials & equipment shall be supplied and delivered to site using trucks and trailers.
The materials shall be off-loaded in the designated laydown areas on site using a boom loader/ truck mounted or mobile crane.
Main Contractor will allocate covered storage area for keeping materials and equipment at site.
Vertical transportations to upper floor work are done by the Main Contractor.
Before commencing, main contractor shall obtain the necessary approval for the Roof waterproofing works
Ensure to obtain the approvals for the detailed shop drawings for the roof waterproofing Works.
Ensure that this Method statement is approved by the Consultant.
Ensure that subcontractor is qualified to carry out the Works.
Ensure that third party laboratory is approved by the consultant to carry out material and field testing (if any).
A toolbox talk will be initiated by the HSE Team to the personnel who will perform this activity.
Review the relevant documents to verify whether the preceded activity was completed and approved by the consultant.
QA/QC Representative will verify that all the apparatus and instruments used to check the quality of material and conditions were all calibrated with supporting documents.
Allocate a dedicated Site Engineer to supervise this activity that will ensure that this Method Statement, ITP and other specific documents related to this activity.
Delivered materials should be verified by the QA/QC Representative and should be inspected by the Engineer.
Store materials in dry area out of direct sun light and as directed by the material manufacturer.
Limited access zone shall be provided with entry restrictions to all operatives
- Execution
- Surface Preparation.
All joints existing between roof slabs other than expansion joints provided shall be filled with non-shrinkage grout
All electrical conduit and other service entries to slab to be clamped and level to be reduced below the top level of PU FOAM
Rain water outlets shall be in place at specified height as per slope.
Vertical parapet wall shall be plastered to the required height.
Roof door threshold shall be in place.
Upstands to be made prior to apply PU foam
All other works on the roof shall be completed prior to commencement of waterproofing works.
Contractor representative will sign the pre checklist for acceptance surface preparation.
On completion of cleaning works, other preparatory works shall be undertaken like covering of parapet wall and other utilities fixed on the roof to avoid the risk of over spray.
Upon completion of preparatory works COMBO-ROOF system application (as per EN14315-2013 STANDARD – INSITU APPLICATION) shall commence where a combination of Polyol & Isocynate ( Baymer) is sprayed onto the roof slab up to a thickness of 65-70mm, using evolution G-30H combination equipment. The spray applied system forms an impermeable waterproofing cum insulation layer with high thermal resistance, closing all pores and cracks that exists in the roof slab.
Water Test.
Plug all the water outlets.
Carry out a visual check for any possible damages due to storage of materials, movement of men machinery and repair wherever necessary.
Water (free from any toxic/ salt contents) shall be used for testing purpose.
During leak test, water depth of 50 - 100mm will be maintained.
Retain the water for 48 hours.
Check for leak/ dampness below the tested area.
If there is leakage found, remove the water, and allow the surface to dry.
Search for the spots from where water enters the floor and carry out rectification works.
Plug the rainwater outlets and again carry out works as mentioned above. This is repeated till a completely leak-proof installation is obtained.
If there is no leakage found, unplug the outlets, remove the water, and dress up the outlets as explained.
Installation of Geo Textile, Screed and top coat.
- Upon successful completion of flood test, water shall be removed and geo-textile (ALYAF 140gsm) membrane shall be laid as a protection layer over the entire roof area prior to commencement of screeding works.
- After laying of Geo textile, make level markings for screeding at site and screeding crew shall commence the paneling work using filler board and pre-mixed cementitious adhesive mortar to attain the desired slope levels as indicated in the approved drawing.
- Protective screed (Design mix attached) shall be laid (to an average thickness of 80mm) with the approved Manufacturer.
- Once screed is completely cured, all construction joints shall be opened and treated using BAYSEAL PS sealant for accommodating movement of the concrete during expansion and contraction.
- Once sealant applied is completely cured, Angle fillet is made along all the corners with 1:3 ratio topcoat of (DR. FIXIT UNITHANE HB) shall be applied over entire screed including upstand to form a uniform coating.
- Once the final coat is completely cured for 48 hours. Raise final inspection request and get approval from consultant/Main contractor and handover the area to Main Contractor for other finishes.
- Control.
- To acquire the specified
requirements, follow the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) in this method
statement that will serve as a guideline for the Construction Team and QA/QC
Team in monitoring, inspection and testing.
- A checklist for this activity will be used by the Construction Team to identify each point to be inspected at every stage of the activity.
- The QA/QC Representative will verify the compliance and completeness of the work by inspecting it and reviewing the same checklist.
